He was born and died in Valencia. March is described as having an eccentric and erratic personality, if not lunatic. He collected weapons of all sorts in his studio, and often performed mock battles against the walls of the studio to instruct himself in the effects. He would work himself into a fury with music before painting. His marriage and home-life was equally disordered.
